QFI looks forward to holding the 3rd annual Research Forum, which seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and classroom practice in Arabic language education.
The Forum will take place August 4-6, 2026, at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, in London, England.
Researchers, teachers, and school administrators at the primary/secondary level who are currently involved in research or would like to strengthen their involvement in research on Arabic language education are invited to apply to attend.
Stemming from the QFI-supported University of Oxford A Scoping Review into the Teaching and Learning of Arabic as an Additional Language, QFI held its first Forum in July 2024 and it brought together key stakeholders to introduce the database and to collaborate on the prioritization of 10 key research questions that would inform future QFI research. The second Forum in 2025 allowed for an updated database to be released and QFI-supported research (such as SALP and other studies) were shared and discussed.
This year’s 2026 Forum will build on that momentum and will have two main goals. The first, will be the sharing of practical findings and recommendations from existing research and what these findings mean for classroom practice; and the second is to focus on building capacity of academic-teacher collaborations for research projects.
By bringing researchers and educators together, we hope to foster a two-way channel of collaboration. When teachers are able to access research to inform their work, researchers are able to learn about the realities inside the classroom, the ecosystem of education, and the students we serve thrive!
Why do I need to Apply?
