Description

Classroom Enrichment Grants (CEGs) provide up to $1,000 USD (or equivalent amount in GBP/EUR) to support primary and secondary (K-12) teachers from public/state-funded schools in North America, United Kingdom, and Europe.

CEGs support teachers to purchase resources, instructional materials, and in-school Arabic language events for their classrooms and school community to supplement their teaching of the Arabic language and about the Arab world.

Below are some examples of eligible materials, resources, and in-school Arabic language eventsPlease ensure that any instructional materials or classroom experiences are approved by your school and meet your school’s standards for language learning activities and instructional materials. You are encouraged to pitch original ideas, too.

Classroom Enrichment Grants could be used for:

  • Instructional materials such as books, videos, or app subscriptions to teach the Arabic language and about the Arab World—ideally materials that will serve the classroom for multiple years;
  • In-school extracurricular student activities (outreach events, food/supplies for in-school cultural nights);
  • Special costs associated with classroom projects or student-related activities (such as art, music, and science projects) which focus on Arabic language and the Arab world;
  • Student activities related to the Arabic language and the Arab World (such as performances or student events) that involve outreach to the greater school community to support and bolster enrollment in Arabic language classes.

CEGs cannot be used for out-of-school events such as field trips.

Before applying, if you would like to discuss how you plan to use the CEG or have any questions, please email cregrants@qfi.org.

Please note that applicants will be required to certify that they have received school approval for holding in-school events and/or requested materials and resources are aligned with teaching and learning of Arabic in accordance with curriculum and instruction based on ACTFL's 'Guiding Principles for Language Learning.'

Funding and Eligibility

Grantees may be awarded up to $1,000 USD (or equivalent amount in GBP/EUR) once each calendar year. In the CEG application, applicants will be asked to provide details on their request including its intended impact, proposed budget, demonstrated need, and proposal plan.  If you previously received a QFI grant, please note that you can only submit a new application once previous grant reporting is submitted and approved by QFI.

To be eligible for the Classroom Enrichment Grant you must:

  • Be teacher or administrator at a primary or secondary (K-12) public/state-funded school;
  • Be located in North America, the United Kingdom, or Europe.

In addition to the eligibility requirements, applications are reviewed against the criteria outlined below:

  • Scale of proposal: Does proposed budget align with the impact and scale of proposal?
  • Impact: How many students will be impacted, strength of activity/materials and how/will the grant impact over time?
  • Cost-effectiveness: Does the proposed budget provide a clear and compelling rationale for cost-effectiveness of grant funding?
  • Practicality: Is this feasible in terms of amount of funding, students, and proposed plan?
  • Alignment to ACTFL World Language Standards: Are the requested materials, resources or in-school event plans aligned with teaching and learning of Arabic in accordance with curriculum and instruction based on ACTFL’s ‘Guiding Principles for Language Learning’?

Applications are not a guarantee of funding.

If you have any questions about CEG eligibility or the application process, please contact cregrants@qfi.org.
