Program Overview
Qatar Foundation International (QFI) is pleased to announce the opening of the Arabic Afterschool Enrichment Grant program to provide support to a select number of robust Arabic language programs that serve primary and secondary students outside of school hours during the academic year. QFI supports innovative, research-based Arabic language programs in state funded primary and secondary schools and works to increase access to Arabic instruction for educators and students around the world. With this grant, QFI aims to support programs that increase access to high quality Arabic education especially in areas where Arabic is not a language offering during the traditional school day. Afterschool enrichment programs that offer high quality Arabic language instruction may also provide pathways for primary and secondary students to study Arabic in formal classroom settings. QFI remains committed to supporting Arabic in the school curriculum. QFI wants to support schools and districts that are interested in offering Arabic programming after school towards the ultimate goal of exploring whether Arabic language can be added as a world language offering in the school curriculum.
In most cases, funding may not be renewed after two years. Schools may wish to move to QFI’s Grants to Schools program if they have established a way to offer Arabic courses during the school day as part of the curriculum.
